A very rich looking piece of Rhodonite from Russia, custom cut set in my clay setting, it is on a waxed linen cord with adjustable knots to allow easy adjustment in length. Stone size 1 1/2" long by 1". Named in 1823 from the Greek word ‘rhodon’ meaning rose, rhodonite is a manganese silicate. This mineral is almost always veined with streaks of black manganese oxidation. Both crystals and massive amounts of Rhodonite has been found in Ural mountains of Russia, Sweden and Australia. Finer grained rhodonite is found in Brazil, Mexico, the United States, Canada, Italy, India, South Africa, Japan, New Zealand and England. Gem quality material comes form Madagascar. It comes on a waxed linen cord that is adjustable in length.
