5.4 x 4.2 cm  From Great Cobar Mine, Cobar, New South Wales, Australia. Fine examples of azurite, native copper and, particularly, malachite were recovered during early mining of the deposits, notably at the Great Cobar and CSA mines. Recent studies of the new Cobar orebody have revealed an exotic assemblage of secondary lead and copper arsenates on which is superimposed a later malachite-azurite assemblage. This proably came out of the ground between 1930 - 1952.**

This is a natural tricolor tourmaline crystal from Paprok, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan. This crystal is dark green at the base which grades into a lighter green center section with a pink cap! (The base may appear black in the photo, it just darker green at the base not black). This type of tourmaline is often called watermelon, but this is not technically correct. This crystal measures about 1 3/8" by 1 1/4" by 3/8". This crystal has a very interesting, complex single termimation and is intact! About 30% of this crystal is pink and 70% is green. It is gemmy and has moderate clarity.*-
