#1167 Amazonite Pendant
From Russia. Amazonite is the blue-green gem variety of the mineral microcline, which is part of the potasium feldspar family. Amazonite is the only bright blue-greenfeldspar, and gets it’s color from lead. Feldspars are usually found in granite pegmatites or granitic plutonic rocks. Although it gets its name from the Amazon river, it actually hasn’t been found along its namesake river. Amazonite originally came from Colorado and Brazil, but these sites are producing less and less each year. Now more material is coming from Russia. This piece measures 1 1/2" long. It comes on a waxed linen cord that is adjustable in length.
