# 6012 Carcharodontosaurus Dinosaur Tooth
A 1 3/4" long Carcharodontosaurus saharicus tooth. This dinosaur is very often incorrectly referred to as the "African Tyrannosaurus rex". Although Carcharodontosaurus and T. rex were both large theropods, these two dinosaurs are not directly related. Also, Carcharodontosaurus lived about 25 million years earlier and is only known from North Africa. This large carnivore grew up to 45 feet long and could weigh up to 8 tons. This monster had a very large skull and a mouth full of teeth up to 8" in length. 90 MYA.
