17.7 grams. 2 x 1 1/2". Libyan Desert Glass is a naturally occurring glass made of silicon dioxide or silica. It is generally found in the Libyan Desert - the Western Desert of Egypt. Studies of the glass indicate that it is approximately 29 million years old. Based on traces of iridium found in the glass, research seems to conclude that the glass was formed as a result of a natural meteor impact or comet.
