This is a fossil mako shark tooth on matrix from the hooked tooth species Isurus planus. This fossil is from Sharktooth Hill, Temblor Formation, Kern County, California. This specimen is from the Miocene epoch 15 million years ago. The tooth itself measures approximately 41 x 20 mm (1 5/8 x 3/4 inches). The whole specimen measures approximately 50 x 45 x 38 mm (2 x 1 3/4 x 1 1/2 inches). This comes in a 2 1/2 inch perky box.
